Why I am receiving repeating AWS Unsubscribed notifications?

This happens because your mail program is trying to load the external content, referenced in the email body, and by doing so, triggers the "Unsubscribe."

The most effective approach is usually disabling external content loading and link previews, as these are the primary mechanisms that cause unintentional unsubscribes.

These approaches proved to be beneficial to our customers:

1. Email Client Settings

Gmail:

  • Go to Settings > General > Images
  • Select "Ask before displaying external images"
  • Disable "Auto-advance" and link previews

Outlook:

  • File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings
  • Automatic Download: Unclick "Download pictures automatically"
  • Programmatic Access: Restrict automatic actions

Apple Mail:

  • Mail > Preferences > Viewing
  • Uncheck "Load remote content in messages"

2. Disable Link Previews

  • Turn off URL previews in your email client
  • Disable "Smart Features" that scan email content
  • Turn off conversation threading that might trigger links

3. Email Scanning/Security Software

If you use enterprise email or security software:

  • Disable URL rewriting/scanning
  • Turn off "Safe Links" features
  • Disable email content analysis
  • Configure security software to not follow links

4. Mobile Email Apps

  • iPhone Mail: Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection > Off
  • Android Gmail: Disable "Smart features and personalization"
  • Turn off notification previews that might trigger content loading

5. Browser-Based Email

  • Use browsers with tracking protection enabled
  • Disable JavaScript for email domains (webmail)
  • Use browser extensions that block email tracking
