Be alerted away from home or business
MySpool Power Failure Detector is a smart device that sends an alert when power failure is detected. An alert is also sent when power comes back on. That alert is a message, either via email or text, or both. Power Failure Detector is configured to use your WiFi (see Important Note below). The setup takes a few minutes with a smart phone or a laptop.
No Hub Required
Each Power Failure Detector works independently with your Wi-Fi network. Multiple devices can be placed in different locations throughout your home or business. Your notifications will include your text for each device that you specify in the device configuration.
No Fees
There are no fees for using MySpool Power Failure Detector for any notifications. Power Failure Detector purchased on MySpool.com comes with support for 2 telephone numbers and up to 5 email addresses for alert notifications. To add more telephone numbers without fees, see these directions.
Flexible design
MySpool Power Failure Detector comes with an extra long 6 foot power cord connected to an enclosure with a transmitter. Power Failure Detector will ignore short duration power fluctuations of less than 2 seconds so that no unnecessary notifications are sent. Note that since no device is permitted to send more than 1 alert per minute, your POWER ON notification may be delayed by up to 1 minute if power comes back on immediately. Each device requires 3 AAA batteries, included. The batteries should last 5 years or more assuming average power outages and fluctuations.
Important Note: one requirement for the Power Failure Detector deployment is that a WiFi network is available when A/C power outlet being monitored loses power. A good example is a UPS backed WiFi router which Power Failure Detector uses to access MySpool cloud servers.
Enjoy all the benefits of the Power Failure Detector with 3 added sensors: a Water Detector, a Temperature sensor, and a Continuity (or Short) Detector.
ADDED SENSORS:
The added high-quality waterproof temperature sensor can be operated in two modes. One mode sends alerts when temperature goes above or below your thresholds. And the second mode allows you to send data to a ThingSpeak channel for display and analysis. See here for directions on how to setup this free data channel. A display of the last 24-hour temperature measurements is also available on myspool.com after you login, under MY DEVICES.
Water and Temperature Alert comes with an extra long 6 ft power cord and two hardened sensors: a water sensor with a 5 ft wire and a temperature sensor with a 3ft wire. High quality moisture sensor has a nickel plated surface for corrosion resistance. It is designed for multi use: just wipe it dry and use it again. High quality waterproof temperature sensor has a temperature range from -55°C to +125°C (-67°F to +257°F), with accuracy of 0.5°C over recommended range of -10°C to +85°C. All readings outside this range are ignored: -30°C to +105°C or -22°F to +221°F
This device also comes with a 2 ft cable for the Continuity (Short) sensor. This cable can be plugged in the slot marked CONT inside the black enclosure. Short the other ends of the 2-wire cable and you will get an alert. Alternatively, this CONT slot can be used with other MySpool sensors such as the float or the door open sensor.
Customization option: there is another slot marked PWR next to the CONT slot. You can cut the included cable and use the other half in the PWR slot to send a TTL level (3.3V) signal outside for external power ON/OFF signalling.
Note: Power ON and Power OFF alerts can be sent as a text message, email, pushbullet or any combination of the three. Water, Temperature and Short alerts are sent only as email or pushbullet notifications.
BASE Power Failure Alert:
- Be alerted when power goes out: MySpool P3 uses Wi-Fi to send text messages, email or push alerts when power goes off or comes back on
- Name each device and send notifications to identify the power outlet affected
- Each MySpool P3 is independent; no hub is required
- WiFi access during power outage is required, please check before ordering
- No fees or subscription costs

P5 Multi-sensor device combines five MySpool devices: Power Failure, Internet Outage, Water Detectors, Temperature, and Short (DIY1) Alerts.
-
A text message, email, or push notification is sent when the A/C power goes off, the internet fails, or water is detected. An email or push notification is sent when the temperature sensor exceeds set thresholds or a short condition is detected.
P5 added four more configuration sensors to notify when the alert condition is reverted. So, another text message, email, or push notification is sent when the A/C power is restored, the internet service is back up, or water is no longer detected. An email is sent when the Short condition no longer applies.
- All alerts, including Power ON and Power OFF, Internet ON and Internet OFF, Water ON and Water OFF, Temperature, and Short ON and Short OFF, are configured independently; each can be disabled if desired.
- The P5 Multi-sensor is equipped with both visual and audio indicators: Red, Blue, and Green LEDs indicate Alarm, Communications, and Running conditions, respectively. An audio tone sounds to indicate an alarm condition for all alarms except for Power OFF to conserve internal batteries. The audible tone can be disabled if desired.
- The Short sensor of P5 comes with a 2-pin JST connector, which can be a simple cable for a continuity test (included), a float sensor, a push switch, or a door-open sensor, all available on MySpool.
- The high-quality waterproof temperature sensor can be operated in two modes. One mode sends alerts when the temperature goes above or below your thresholds. The second mode allows you to send data to a ThingSpeak channel for display and analysis. See here for directions on how to set up this free data channel.
- Name each device and customize your message notifications to identify the location where an issue is detected.
- Every MySpool device is independent; no hub is required. There are no fees or subscription costs.
Note: Power, Internet ON and OFF alerts, and Water alerts can be sent as text messages, emails, push bullets, or any combination of the three. Temperature and Short alerts are sent only as email or push bullet notifications. However, you can convert one or more of the email notifications into text messages; see here for instructions.
Float, Door, and Push button sensors can be plugged in the Short sensor connector. They are NOT INCLUDED and must be purchased separately.

The Internet detection service sends multiple status updates to MySpool cloud service per minute. The service sends an Internet OFF alert if two or more are missed. It usually takes 1-3 minutes for this alert to be generated and delivered. Once internet connectivity is restored, an Internet ON alert is sent.
Temperature sensor alerts when the temperature goes above or below your thresholds. The high-quality waterproof temperature sensor has a temperature range from -55°C to +125°C (-67°F to +257°F), with an accuracy of 0.5°C over the recommended range of -10°C to +85°C. The water sensor alerts you when moisture is sensed by the pad, which has a 5-foot cable for flexible deployment.
All MySpool services are free.
