Customer testimonials - Water Alert devices

We purchased a home almost a year ago and had been putting off purchasing something along these lines as well as a back up battery and extra sump pump just in case.. I purchased this exact one based on reviews. It arrived, super easy to install and test and that was it… 1 week and 2 days later, I am in California crossed the country for work and I get a notification that the alarm is detected. My fiancé is at work, so my in laws went to the house and to check it out and the water level was up to the brim!!! This little gadget saved our entire basement and no one was even home! This is an absolute must!!!!!! It’s just absolutely crazy how this all happened a week after we installed this. Our pump was fine and we had power but the float on the pump got stuck and the pump stopped pushing water out. Please do yourself a favor and get this!

I use two MySpool products at work (power failure and temperature alarm) so I thought of MySpool when my two home water alarms (from a company that rhymes with blink) became unsupported and non-functional after being installed for only four years.

I've installed a MySpool water level alert in my sump crock (to be notified if my sump pump failed, bound to happen someday) and a MySpool water alert near my basement's floor drain (for water backing up during flooding rains, it's happened before).

They're easy to set up, easy to test, and can both text and email me. My home's router, wifi, and water alert are on a battery UPS (the water level alert has internal AA batteries), so whatever happens when I'm away from home or in the middle of the night, I'll be alerted.

MySpool has been dependable at work and I look forward to the peace of mind now that I have two water alerts at home. They're not complicated (this is huge positive), they just work.

I live in an area with a high water table so have a sump pump in my crawlspace. This device is an added peace of mind in case my sump pump should fail! It was easy to set up with my internet and the “test” worked incredibly fast! The text notification came immediately. This device will help keep me from having to go into my crawlspace—less often—to check things (which is helpful as a 65 year old widow.)

I installed this product on the floor behind my washing machine. It was easy to install and use. It provides real-time, instant notification of any water leaks so the leak can me secured before it causes damage to the floor or walls.

I have this installed in a sump tank that cannot overflow. Setup was easy, and I can get email or sms,txt messages to warn me if the water level is too high. Which would mean I need to take a look at the pump. Very happy with the product and support. Do recommend.

I was at work when we had a very heavy rain storm roll through. My sump system failed and I was quickly notified by the sensor! I did have some damage as it took me about an hour to get home, but i know it would have been much worse if I wasn't notified.

This thing is worth every penny. If you have a sump pump, you need this.

Easy to install. Love the alerts in winter. I keep my sump unplugged in winter due to freezing. So when the water gets to a certain point, I clear the ice and let it run. Peace of mind in winter time.

I have three of these set up now, and will set up a few more. Two are for remote temperature monitoring in a summer house to make sure it doesn't freeze in the winter. The devices post temperature periodically to the MySpool server and I can see a graph of the last couple of days there, also there is an out-of-range alarm provision (text and email). The third is monitoring water height in a sump; it sends an alarm message if the water gets too high (pumps fail or are overwhelmed). I've used MySpool sensors for a couple of years now and am super happy with them. Also, unlike many (most?) alarm systems, there is no monthly/annual subscription fee, they host the data for free.

My sump pump runs frequently in the spring. Whenever we're gone for a few days I have always worried about my sump pump failing. I ordered my MySpool so I would get a notification when the water level in my sump pit rose beyond the normal pump trigger point. I installed MySpool in a few minutes and it seems to be working great. I have tested in a number of times by simply lifting the float (spool) and am notified immediately via text and e-mail. It works perfectly. Thanks for this simple and effective device! I won't need to worry when I'm away for an extended period of time.

I needed to put an alarm on the basement sump pump. This works great. I am 70 years old and I easily installed this and tested it several times and it works great. Install time may be 30 minutes or less.

I've got a complicated system in my well house where a motorized ball valve opens and closes to keep several 300 gallon storage tanks full. If the valve should fail in the open position, however, the tanks will overflow and it might be days before I would notice the overflow! Since the storage tanks are after the water softener, that would mean thousands of gallons through the softener and onto the ground, and possibly burn out my well pump too. Not a highly likely scenario, but possible and expensive. The Myspool alert system was super simple to set up and test. I have it send alerts to my email but also as an SMS message to my phone, and I set up a special text alert tone for that number, and set it to play even if my phone is on silent or do not disturb. A few hours later I was working outside when suddenly that tone played on my phone. Yikes! Had the new valve failed already?! I ran up to the well house but it was all fine --at initial setup I had put it a little to close to the normal cut-off level, and since it is just dangling by a wire above the water in the tank, when the wire relaxed a bit after a few hours, the alert float touched the water and lifted, sending me the alert. I just reset the alert float a little higher, but was actually pleased to get that successful test of the system.

Purchased to provide notification if water level in my sump pump well was high. Due to drought conditions it had not been put to the test until yesterday. Received txt msg of high water level and sure enough, the water level in the well had risen to a high level and triggered the notice. Problem was rectified and basement flood was avoided. So Happy with purchase! Setup was easy. The peace of mind it provides is exactly why I purchased. Definitely recommend.

We have a whole house backup generator, but I still always worried how I would know if the sump pump died. Our sump pump is quiet so we can't hear it running. With the water level warning device I can now know if there is a problem before we have major problems with water damage

I have three of these devices (and one of their Power Failure Alerts). They all work perfectly. But the telltale of any electronic device is its support. MySpool is amazing. Here are two specific examples: (1) I contacted support by filling out their on-line support form. I had a response within a few minutes! After a couple of back-and-forths, with no more then five minutes between my "forths" and their "backs," the problem had been identified and solved. (2) At about 4:30 p.m. on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, I contact support again via their on-line form, and asked for help with a minor problem that I clearly identified as "this isn't a serious problem." I thought I'd probably hear back on the Tuesday after Labor Day. Within ONE HOUR on that Saturday afternoon (!) support responded that the problem had been solved. Obviously, I can't guarantee that my experience is typical, but I see no reason to assume it isn't. This company seems to have the gold standard of product support.

It was easy to have it link to my WiFi. It now sends texts to me and my wife when sensor becomes wet. I like the Green/Red light to know it is working and its status. I have two other MySpool devices and they work well.

Item is well built and easy to setup the wifi via your smartphone. Had to add rubber feet to my sensor board because my a/c unit has a metal pan under it and the sensor sits in the pan. I was concerned that the sensor board would short out touching the metal pan. Test completed and I received a text and an email. I added one of these to each of my air handlers so there will be no surprises if the pan fills with water and the float doesn't work.

Purchasing a septic alarm that has both an audible alarm and that is wifi capable is very expensive. I am adding the myspool alarm to an existing alarm that only buzzes. This is an effective and very economical solution. Now I will receive a text message and an email alerting me that my septic pump has failed.

A colleague of mine purchased a few of these to give quick notification if we have a water spill on some of our equipment. I was not convinced that we would get a quick response from these units since they connect to Wi-Fi and sending SMS via the internet rather than directly from the unit. To my Surprise I received a text and email in 8 seconds from triggering the sensor. You have to make an account online to setup the message and cell number/email. It's nice that you can bundle multiple units to the same account and see them all in one place

Everyone in search for a way to get attention when your forgotten tank pump stops... THIS IS IT

I use this to monitor my bathroom ejector system is quietly working. I don't need rerun of crawlspace drama.

I have a sump pump (pit) located outside of my house. ALl of my drains flow into it, and is then pumped to the street. What kept me up at night was wondering what would happen if the pump failed (or there was a power outage) and the pit overflowed, putting water under my house's crawl space. After some research, I found this little battery-powered gadget and gave it a shot. Installation was pretty straightforward; I connected to my wifi, then simply attached the float switch with the included bracket to my sump discharge pipe at the level I wanted to be alerted at. The control module is also sealed against moisture, but isn't waterproof rated, so I mounted that closer to the top of my pit. A quick test by triggering the switch sent me an SMS and email right away!

As my home wifi is already connected to a UPS battery, that will stay working during a power outage should one occur, and assuming I am home, I can now start up my generator for power, or swap in a standby pump if it has completely failed. Oh the joys of home ownership! At least now I have a plan in place for a worst-case scenario, and this little guy is a crucial piece of it. Hopefully it lasts a long time. I may also consider disconnecting it during the summer months as we don't have any rain and to keep it out of the sun.

I'm using the MySpool Water and Temperature Alert in the engine room of my motor yacht. I leave the boat in the water year round. I needed a way to be alerted to abnormally high water levels in the bilge. This fits the bill perfectly. It is easy to setup. It is deep down in the boat and connected to the marina wifi. There have been no issues with connectivity in spite of a lot of barriers. I installed a USB port direct to the 12 volt system. There are four huge batteries kept in constant charge by a Mastervolt Powercharge 12/40-3. This is the ultimate UPS. I also have a MySpool AC current alert that lets me know if the AC power to the boat goes out. I have six web cameras monitoring various aspects of the boat. The cameras are on 12 volt power. With this system I can keep track of the health of my boat from anywhere in the world. I am beyond pleased with it.

Great WiFiwater sensor at a reasonable price. Relatively easy to setup. I am using the device to monitor my sump pump wiich has failed twice in the past. The water sensor gives peace of mind that the house is dry while we are away from home. The device will warn us via text message and email when the water level is higher than normal giving us time react before basement flooding occurs.

After our AC condensate drain line backed up twice causing carpet damage, I needed a solution. This sensor was easy to setup, and I've tested it a few times already just to make sure it's working properly. It's always provided me alerts, even with the smallest amount of water. It's a huge piece of mind knowing I won't flood my basement again!

I had originally purchased one of these to put under my kitchen sink after I had a leak. I was skeptical at first but after setting it up and testing it, it worked great. Now three years later I decided to get one for my HVAC in the attic and decided to test my original under the sink and it still works great even after three years of forgetting it even existed.

After having a basement flood, an expensive cleaning/remodel, and a new ejector pump installed in our basement, we ordered this alert product in case the pump failed. Received this rinky-dink little plug and wire contraption, which looks like not much, and followed the simple instructions to set it up via wifi. The product looked so small and dumb I honestly didn’t expect it to work. Fast forward a few years… I forgot we even owned this alert. Last month though, a small puddle of water formed on the floor by the pump, and GUESS WHAT? This little contraption sent me about 50 alerts on my phone throughout the day (in other words, there was no way to miss seeing an alert). Excellent response, and now I gotta admit I’m a believer in this product! Luckily we were home and fixed the water leak ASAP. But had we been out of town, the alert would have allowed us to contact our neighbors or plumber for help.

We installed the MySpool Power Failure alert on our basement sump pump cable after we had it's dedicated circuit breaker trip allowing us to get water in our basement. We already had the MySpool Water Alert fortunately which gave us the alert when the sump overflowed. Adding the Power Alert will let us reset the breaker and avoid the water completely if there is a next time.

I have used it for over a year and it has done well. Woke me up at 2am when my sump pump wasn't working. The alert saved me from waking up to a flooded basement.

Wanted to thank you for a terrific product. Works well. Last month the sensor kept triggering in the middle of the night. I would inspect the AC unit and find no water.

Fast forward to this past week. Again it's going off like crazy. I wanted to ignore it but did not. I went and looked at unit this time and found a significant pool of water in the catch pan under the AC/Furnace. The condensate line was broken (likely was this way for years) and it finally failed 100% and filled the pan. The alert was persistent or I would have tried to ignore it! Saved me a lot of damage.

I did retest it after it was dried out and adjusted the sensitivity to be slightly less touchy. Seems to be working well again. Thanks for a product that actually does what it says.

BTW - your water alert device saved my basement from a flood last May! We had 20 inches of rain in a day and about two days later I got a water alert! We'd never had any water in our basement before but it started coming and the sump pump didn't work! So I was able to keep it dry manually with a shop vac until the plumber got there. I gave you rave reviews on Amazon for that!

This device was so simple to set up! Besides the device for me, I ended up purchasing one for a friend and two family members who all live in condos and have lived through water nightmares in the past. One device saved the day for my friend who experienced a sewer backup in her utility room a few days after the New Year. This device notified her immediately and she was able to stop the water from entering the main living area. Very happy with my purchase!

I picked this unit because it is the cheapest one that does not rely on batteries. The idea is to install it once and forget about it. So far so good. I did get two alerts due to condensation drops, but I moved it to another location and everything is working great now.

Great product - easy set up - I had a small leak at my tankless water heater that I did not realize I had and I was notified right away by text and email. A little peace of mind.

We had a water disaster in early 2019 that cost us thousands. I have 4 kids, so this financial impact was a hard one to take. If we had caught it sooner, things would have not escalated that way they did. After I finished remodeling and repairing the kitchen, I looked for water detection devices that did not require alot of extra cost. I found alot of devices, but all of them fell short in the area of cost, time to receive alerts, and required subscriptions. When I found the MySpool devices, I was skeptical, but decided to give it a try I bought one for the sinks, dishwasher, refrigerator ice maker, and clothes washer. The setup was simple, and is similar to the setup of most wireless "smart" devices. I tested them several times throughout the setup, and will get texts and emails almost immediately. I had to call the support desk 2 times do ask questions, and they were extremely responsive, even during off hours. The questions I asked could have been answered if I had just read a little more in the provided documentation, but they helped me anyway. Reading directions gets me every time. Overall, I have been extremely satisfied with the MySpool devices and the company as a whole.

I have three of these water sensors protecting our recently installed hardwood floors. One behind the refrigerator (ice maker), one in the laundry room under the washing machine, and one under the dishwasher/kitchen sink area. They were easy to set up and I had no trouble connecting to wifi. The devices have been checking-in on a regular basis and I am hoping to never get a water alert from any of them!

July 2, 2019
I purchased this alert sensor to avoid another flood caused by a failed sump pump. For anyone who’s pump gets a workout during rainy days, this is a must! If your pump fails and you aren’t home, this alert system will give you a chance to fix or replace your pump before it’s too late! Once the sensor gets a drop on it, you are sent an email and a text notifying you. Awesome!

June 17, 2019
This is the cheapest and best water alert device I could find, and it definitely meets my expectations. I have this installed down my my sump pump to send me an email and text if the pump fails. Every time I test it, I get a text within a minute of water touching the sensor.

May 3, 2019
Friend of mine, basement got flooded. They didn't have flood insurance to cover the damage. So I came across this thing I figured I'd give it a try. After I set it up for email I checked the email and it was there in 2 minutes or so. Then when I set up for text alerts I received a text in 28 seconds. I was impressed. And yes I did time it LOL. But I would definitely recommend this thing I've had it for a few months now and tested it a few times when I get a text and seconds that there's water detected.

April 19, 2019
Purchased because I've had issues with our condensate pump. Set up was quick and easy, took about 10 minutes. Once set up, tested the unit and it sent a text and an email to warn of water detected (dipped it in a glass of water) unplugged the unit and set it aside to install later, That night I received another text and email letting me know that the unit was not responding and may have lost power,(it was on the counter, unplugged) an extra boost of confidence in the unit. I installed this morning before work (about 10 min. to place and mount) and all set. Piece of mind is priceless.

Saved my basement. Worked as promised

I needed the Myspool Water Alert to monitor my air conditioning unit for a condensate leak.
It works exactly as described and I am very pleased with the unit.
Customer support is fast and excellent. I emailed asking if it is possible to get a TTL output so I could control a relay and within 5 hours had an answer including which pin to use. It now shuts off the compressor when it detects a leak.
I plan on buying more to monitor the washing machine and water heater.

January 25, 2019
I bought this for a second home to detect if water is in the basement. We do have a sump pump but sometimes it gets jammed so we wanted something to alert us if that occurred.

I did have a couple of minor bugs with the installation but the customer support was excellent and helped me install it in a matter of minutes.

I just recently had my first alert. Something I will caution people on when setting up the device: You have an option as to how frequently you want to receive email alerts. I didn't realize that it was set for 1 minute. So because I was unable to immediately go and dry the sensor, I received HUNDREDS of email alerts. I believe the maximum text alerts was 5 and that is acceptable, but you really need to pay attention to the email alerts. They do have options for less frequently, so I was able to change it to once every 24 hours.

Overall, I am very pleased with the alert system. I think it provides peace of mind, is affordable and the customer service is great.

September 22, 2018
I noticed water spots near my A/C drain and wondered how long ago that leak was. Got the Water Alert setup - it was pretty easy once you get the idea that you need both an account to direct messages and to configure the device itself to use your wifi. I used a mug with water to test it, got both email and text, that was excellent. Then I left the water sensor part on the floor and taped the box to the side of the furnace about a foot off the floor. I got an alert the very next day, my A/C drain was leaking on the side instead of going to the sump pump.

And there is a web page that was just added, it lets you see the status of your Water Alert, very convenient.

Latest in technology wifi based water sensor not depending on batteries you have to keep changing. Flexible alert system to match my needs. The sensor can be dried immediately versus pads that absorb water. Well thought out.

August 7, 2018
Bought 12 of these for my condo association after a water heater leak that went on for days caused a lot of damage to two of our units. One of the only water detectors that is wifi enabled and not battery powered, and did not require a hub (big pluses).
